Centauro SpA was the first in Italy to produce band saws with steel beds as
early as far-off 1946. Owing to the undoubted quality of its products and
the wide range of band saw models it supplied in steel and cast iron, the
Centauro brand immediately spread throughout the domestic market and later
on an international scale as well.
The Centauro manufacturing programme has been enriched with a new line of
lathes in both the manual version and with copying units since 1970.
Technological innovation then led to the subsequent introduction of
electronic and numerical control lathes.
Ever since 1990 new lines of machinery, such as rip saws, numerical control
production systems for shaped cuts, chain mortisers and chisel mortisers in
a variety of versions, have expanded Centauro's supply in order to meet the
most diversified demands of the world market, which absorbs about 70% of its
turnover.
Joining the Woodworking Machinery sector is the Foundry Division, with an
annual production capacity of 2,800 tons of cast iron that in addition to
totally meeting the company's requirements, 80% of it goes to its
third-party customers.
Centauro SpA has plants covering 25,000 sq. m and it employs more than 100
people.
